Experience
Dr. Class received her BS in Biopsychology from the University of California, San Diego. She then worked for two years at the University of California, Irvine as a clinical research coordinator. Dr. Class then obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in biostatistics, from Indiana University, Bloomington. Dr. Class completed her clinical internship at Indiana University - Purdue University, Indianapolis. Then, after her postdoctoral training in the Department of Public Health at the University of Chicago, Dr. Class began her career in medical education and research at the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC), in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
At UIC she serves as the Director of Resident Research and a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Passion
Dr. Class believes that the best physicians can understand and contribute to the scientific body of literature. Some of the best research ideas begin at the bedside, and our future attending physicians should be equipped with the foundations to pursue research projects.
She strives to make research accessible. Dr. Class believes that modeling is one of the strongest forms of education. Therefore, she takes pride in her mentorship. The core values at her work are intellectual rigor, clear communication, and professionalism.
Dr. Class has shown that providing a dedicated point of contact to support residents' scholarly activity increases the department's presentation and publication output while reducing resident and faculty burnout.
